Loan app questions

How do I know if a loan app is approved in Nigeria?

Digital lenders must be registered with the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), unless they are licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria. Search the app or company name above: we check it against the FCCPC register, including the watchlist and delisted apps.

What does it mean if a loan app is on the FCCPC watchlist?

The FCCPC is investigating or monitoring the app, often after complaints about harassment, data abuse or unfair charges. It is safest not to borrow from an app on the watchlist.

What should I do if a loan app harasses me or messages my contacts?

Keep screenshots of every message and call, do not pay anything you do not owe, and report the app to the FCCPC. Contacting your friends or family to shame you is not allowed under the FCCPC digital lending rules.

Does FCCPC approval mean a loan is cheap or safe?

No. Approval means the lender is allowed to operate and must follow the FCCPC rules. Interest rates and fees still vary widely, so always compare the total cost before you borrow.
